The Wedding of Ali & Brad

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Ali & Brad.  First meeting them at the Sheraton hotel in Hamilton I had the opportunity to capture shots inside the hotel which offered various locations in which to shoot.  Leaving the hotel we headed to Liuna Station a former CN Railway station now renovated into a beautiful banquet facility.  Ali & Brad are a very easy going and fun couple.  They were open to any and all suggestions so we were able to take advantage of the classic exterior station grounds as well as the unique indoor opportunities.  Overall the day was exciting and full of fun.  Below are a few of my favorite shots.

A unique photo op that presented itself as we were grabbing shots of the bridal party was to set up a shot emulating a painting that hung in the grand hallway of the station.  It was a creative and fun way to pose the
bridal party.
Ali & Brad were very creative in their wedding and instead of having their guests sign a traditional guest book they had square shaped ivory quilt pieces and invited guests to sign a piece which would later be sewn together to make a large quilt reminding them of their day and all the guests who wished them well as they started their journey into marriage.

Thanks David

Fun Shoot

I have known Tanya for some time now. We first met a few years back at my first official wedding shoot as Tanya was styling the bride's (Jenn) hair and also applying her make-up.  Just watching that process and again time after time in the recent years as I've worked with Tanya I know Tanya and many others out there who choose the hair style and make-up artist profession are true creative artists at what they do.  After Jenn's wedding I photographed Tanya's wedding and we have been friends ever since.  Tanya asked me if I would be interested an taking some photos for her for an upcoming competition she is entering.  I jumped at the opportunity to work with Tanya again as we had done a similar thing a year ago, but much more casual and out of her house at the time.  This time around we would be in the salon she works out of called 'Aqualibrium' in North Oshawa.  Joining us for a fun day was one other artist from the salon, Monique and also the make-up artist Patty and models Andrea, Allison, Kelsey, Travis and Sean.  And of course Mark helping style up the models and just about everything else we needed.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Mikenna's First Communion

Mark and Sue, our BFFs, invited my family to Mikenna's first communion at St. David's RC Church in Maple.  Mark asked if I could bring my camera to capture a couple of family shots.  Well I couldn't just take a couple of pictures now could I?  We had some fun taking over the front lawn of a neighbor and captured some fun shots outside and some candids in the house.

Here are a couple of my favorites.  Hope you like them.

Cheers David

Photo Contest Winner

 And the winning photo is
"A Little Moment",
thank you everyone for voting.

The votes were so close I had to ask a few people I trust very much to help me pick a winner between the top 3 photos.  The top 3 photos were all within 1 vote of each other, and this made it very difficult to pick a winner.

For being the couple in the Winning Photo, Tania and Mike will receive a prize package that will include one 11x14 enlargement and other goodies.

Here are the other 2 photos in the top 3.

Thanks again for taking the time to look at the photos, vote and add your personal touches to each comment.

Engagement Session with Lori and Matt

I met up with Lori and Matt on Saturday morning for some fun in the cool spring sun at Cullen Gardens in Whitby.  Lori and Matt are getting married in NFLD in July.  I had a great time getting to know Lori and Matt while we took some photos, they have had an exciting and very busy three years since they began dating.  Including one year of living in Nunavet.  Lori has a gorgeous smile, and Matt's a pretty fine catch himself.  They are truly in love.
I have selected a few of my favorites to share with you from the day.
Thanks Lori and Matt

Liam's Fight for Sight Fund Raiser Hosted by Valentino's Grand Hair Salon

Vasile, Kristina (Liams mom) Christine Elliot and George

March 22nd, 2010 was an evening I will never forget.  I donated my time to shoot photos at a fundraiser, hosted by Valentino's Grande Salon, in support of 'Liam's Fight for Sight'.  The night was fantastic!  Master of Ceremonies, Joe Millage & Ken Shaw (CTV News) kept the evening rolling as performances were given by Simone Sioman, an extremely talented visually impaired singer, Brittany King, the Garvin Farr School of Music, PSB Dance Academy and Jordan Ronson.  There was a silent auction and amazing fashion show as well and I had the opportunity to meet a variety of Durham Region community representatives including MPP Christine Elliot.  Brothers and co-owners of Valentino's, George and Vasile, embraced the Reid Family and their fight to raise funds for their visually impaired son, Liam.  I am fortunate in that I have shared in so many wonderful occasions through my photography and having the privilege to shoot the gala fundraiser for Liam is definitely a highlight of my photography career thus far.

Not to mention Liam is family.  If you would like to know more about Liam's amazing fight and his incredibly strong mom Kristina please visit www.liamsfightforsight.com, or click on the title and it will take you to the site.

Thank you Teresa for an amazing night.

Thanks again to all the wonderful people from Valentino's I had the pleasure to meet, who donated their time and to everyone who came out to support Liam and his family.
